Adaptation Overview

In the area of "Adaptation", the climate change team supports member countries and territories in developing and implementing appropriate adaptation and disaster risk reduction measures.

Climate change adaptation is being mainstreamed in national and sectoral policies, strategies and plans implemented through coordinated institutional arrangements supported by enabling environments at all levels and sectors, with technical assistance from SPREP and other partners. This includes the development of National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPAs), Joint National Action Plans (JNAPs) and the introduction of the Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change (PACC) project in 2009.

One of the main objectives of the PACC project is to capture and document lessons learnt from adaptation efforts in the Pacific region.
