Australia's future
generation
Students of Pembroke High School in
Adelaide, Australia “Climate
Change: Our century’s challenge, our Pacific response”, was one
of the topics presented to visiting students from Pembroke High
School in Adelaide, Australia, in July.
14
secondary school students and their accompanying staff spent time
with staff at SPREP while on a cultural visit in Samoa for two weeks.
They learnt more about the environmental issues which are affecting
the Pacific region, in particular Climate change with Espen Ronneberg,
the 2009 Climate change campaign with Ewan Cameron and Sea Turtles
with Anne Trevor.
The
session with Espen Ronneberg saw the students ask interesting questions
ranging from the importance of renewable energy in Australia to
sea level rise in the Pacific. They were also given 2009 Pacific
Year of Climate Change stickers and were welcomed into the Information
and Resource Centre where they collected environmental information
to return to Australia with.
