and Greenpeace Climate Change Quiz Night!

A
climate change quiz night challenged the brains of those who attended
the SPREP and Greenpeace event on board the MV Esperanza.
In
early July, the Greenpeace vessel was visiting Samoa on a Pacific
tour, having come from the Cook Islands . It was an opportunity
to bring over 80 people together in a friendly atmosphere to raise
awareness and test their understanding of this climate change.
SPREP,
along with Pacific nations and partners are commemorating 2009 as
the Pacific Year of Climate Change and this was one of the many
events which will take place this year.
The
Pacific region contributes to 0.03% of the Worlds total greenhouse
gas emissions but is among the most vulnerable to the impacts of
climate change.
This year the Pacific Year of Climate Change hopes to mobilize action
of Pacific communities, to adapt to its affects, as well as encourage
mitigation.
The
SPREP and Greenpeace Climate Change Quiz night has been one of the
many ways SPREP can work in partnership with other organizations
to commemorate this special year and encourage a better understanding
of this serious issue.
