The IWP/SPREP Waste Reduction Champion Award for 2005

2005 is SPREP's Year of Action Against Waste. On October 14 SPREP will announce the 2005 "Waste Reduction Champion" for the Pacific Islands.

The International Waters Project (IWP) is a SPREP-managed programme that is specifically designed to help Pacific Island countries improve the management of waste, freshwater, and coastal fisheries.

The IWP has now started a competion to identify and celebrate the 2005 "Waste Reduction Champion" for the Pacific islands region. In order to nominate someone all you need to do is email IWP and write a short description how they are working to reduce the impacts of solid waste in your community or country.

Your nominated "Champion" can be anyone from the community, a government or non-government organisation, or a private business, who is working to reduce the impacts of solid waste on the environment and health of people in their community or country.  Examples of IWP "Champions" can be found elsewhere in the IWP website.

Your nomination should be no longer than 500 words and it should include your full name and contact details. You can also mail your nomination to IWP c/o Waste Reduction Champion Awards, PO Box 240, Apia, Samoa

If you require more information please email Steve Menzies.
