Climate ChangePacific Island Global Climate Change Observing System.The Pacific Islands Countries are among the most vulnerable to the consequences of human-induced climate change, in particular, global warming and the potential threats associated with extreme weather events, climate variability, and sea level rise. Observational networks are essential for detecting climate change and variability and extreme weather events, for understanding the effects, and for better prediction of climate’s future course. Therefore improved observations of climate related parameters will improve the provision, accuracy, and timeliness of climate observations, information, and forecasts.Go to "PI-GCOS."
Nature ConservationLongline-cetacean.This is a list of fisherman, scientists, IGOs, NGOs etc who exchange information on cetaceans (dolphins/whales) that takes (depredate) tuna that are caught on longline fishing gear. Information is exchanged on the issues and ways in which this issues can be addressed. Depredation of tuna by cetaceans is a growing problem that is affecting the operations of tuna longline fisherman. Go to "Longline-cetacean." Tonga Whale Forum.This is a list of tonga government officers, MSO (thats me), whale scientists and whale watch operators in Tonga who would like to exchnage information on whale conservation and whale watching tourism in the Kingdom of Tonga. Please refer to the list attached. The formation of a listserver is one of the recommendations of the recent SPREP whale forum in Tonga. SPREP was tasked to take it up. please assist. The main focus of Mynas is to help Pacific Islanders and others in the region gain access to information on Invasive Species that cause the loss of biodiversity in the Pacific, to keep everyone up-to-date on current projects in the Pacific, to create a network between a whole range of people, including technical experts, government officials, researches, donors etc.and to have your questions answered. Go to "Mynas" Wandering TattlerThe Wandering Tattler is a network that focuses on terrestrial species (Pacific Birds, Bats and Lizards) conservation. The main focus of The Wandering Tattler is to help Pacific Islanders and others in the region gain access to information on terrestrial species conservation in the Pacific, to keep everyone up-to-date on current projects in the Pacific, to create a network between a whole range of people, including technical experts, government officials, researches, donors etc and to have your questions answered.Go to "Wandering Tattler" |
