The Solomon Islands Government is leading an integrated partnership approach approach to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The Government selected Choiseul Province in the Western Solomon Islands as the place to bring together many projects under what has become the Choiseul Integrated Climate Change Programme (CHICCHAP).

An Ecosystem-based Adaptation Project in Choiseul, implemented by SPREP and funded by USAID, is part of the partnership.

The Government of Kiribati ‘Whole of Island’ approach is a world-first effort to integrate climate change adaptation and disaster risk management in a coral atoll nation.

The island of Abaiang, north of the capital island of Tarawa, was identified by the Government of Kiribati as the first site. This integrated approach is designed to more comprehensively support people and the environment whilst promoting better coordination between community, local and national government and donor-funded projects.

An Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) project, implemented by SPREP and funded by USAID, is part of the 'Whole of Island' approach to adaptation in Abaiang.
