Post Description:  Assistant Accountant (AA)

Background

The Corporate Services Division is responsible for the provision of support services to the Organisation through the areas of Human Resources & Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Information Resources and Media & Publications.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Maintain, update and reconcile the following on a periodic basis:

  • All bank accounts;
  • Petty cash and all relevant records;
  • Fixed Assets Register;
  • Finance section stationery supplies;

2. Check and ensure all processes are in order on a periodic basis:

  • Daily receipts and bankings;
  • Daily cash book postings;
  • Monthly Accounts payable adjustments;
  • Payroll calculations;
 

3. Follow up payment and process outstanding accounts receivable invoices;

4. Reconcile general ledger accounts as and when required;

5. Assist in the following areas:

  • Preparation of financial reports;
  • Coordination of work and monitoring process of Finance Staff;
  • Supervision of the work and performance of Finance Staff when necessary;

6. Other duties assigned from time to time.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Accounting or relevant discipline from a recognised institution (A university degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage);
  • At least five years relevant experience in accounting and financial management work;
  • Excellent experience in computerised accounting systems and Excel spreadsheets ;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high command of spoken and written English;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet work-plan deadlines with minimal supervision;

Highly Desirable

  • Work experience in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

Basic salary ranges from SAT$31,296 to SAT$47,142 depending on qualifications and experience.
