Post Description:  Assistant Accountant (AA)

Responsibilities:

 The AA is responsible to the Corporate Services Manager, under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager, for the efficient performance of the following key duties and responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile all bank accounts monthly;

Maintain petty cash and relevant records;

•  Check daily receipts and daily bankings;

•  Check and confirm daily cash book postings;

•  Check and confirm accounts payable adjustments monthly;

•  Check and confirm payroll calculations;

•  Maintain and update values of fixed assets register;

•  Process accounts receivable invoices when required;

•  Follow up payment of outstanding accounts receivable invoices;

•  Maintain and order Finance section stationery supplies when necessary;

•  Reconcile general ledger accounts as when required;

•  Respond to queries from officers; and

•  Perform other general accounts work, as required.

•  Back up support and other responsibilities as required:

•  Assist in preparation of financial reports;

•  Assist in coordination of work and the monitoring process of Finance Staff;

•  Assist in the supervision of the work and performance of Finance Staff in the absence of the Finance Manager or Project Accountant on duty travel, annual or sick leave; and

•  Relieve the Project Accountant, when necessary;

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential:

•  Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Accounting or relevant discipline from a recognised institution (A university degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage);

•  At least five years relevant experience in accounting and financial management work;

•  Excellent experience in computerised accounting systems and Excel spreadsheets ;

•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high command of spoken and written English; •  Demonstrated ability to meet work-plan deadlines with minimal supervision;

Highly Desirable

•  Work experience in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

Basic salary ranges from SAT$31,296 to SAT$47,142 depending on qualifications and experience.
