Consultancy Opportunity:  Website Coordinator

 

Background

SPREP is an intergovernmental organisation that assists Pacific Island countries and territories protect and manage their environment. SPREP’s membership comprises 21 Pacific Island countries and territories, and includes Australia, France, New Zealand and the United States of America.

The SPREP website (www.sprep.org) is a vital tool that enables the Secretariat to share information and communicate its strategic priorities across the region.

Expressions of Interest are invited for the position of a Temporary Website Coordinator to support the review and development of the SPREP web site, for a period of three months, starting mid-August 2005.

Duties

The consultant will work closely with the Education and Social Communications Officer and the Human Resources and Development Officer, to undertake the following tasks:

•  Develop and compile information for specific campaigns and projects (namely the Pacific Year of Action Against Waste, and the Roundtable for Nature Conservation);

•  Review, update and manage programme information on the SPREP web site;

•  Ensure web site content is consistent with SPREP’s existing communication initiatives;

•  Work closely with the IT unit to ensure consistency to corporate image; and

•  Support capacity building initiatives of the Pacific Environmental Information Network (PEIN).

The consultant will also be expected to prepare and circulate a draft consultancy report to relevant officers for comment at the conclusion of the consultancy.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

•  Appropriate tertiary qualifications;

•  Experience in the following computer software :

•  Macromedia, Dreamweaver 6.1 and Contribute

•  Active Server Pages (ASP) and html expertise

•  Some knowledge of SQL server (although not required)

•  Some knowledge of Windows 2000 domain and AD appropriate but not required;

•  Excellent verbal and written communication in English; and

•  Work experience in the Pacific region.

Timeframe

This consultancy will be undertaken and completed within three months of commencement.

Quote

Applicants must submit a quote for this consultancy, with one third payment to be paid on initial engagement, with installment payments upon completion of milestones throughout the consultancy.
