European Development Fund (EDF)
Created in 1957 by the Treaty of Rome, and first launched in 1959, the European Development Fund (EDF) is the main instrument for providing community development aid in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and the overseas countries and territories (OCTs).
Strategic Approach to International Chemical Management (SAICM)
SAICM was developed to help ensure that, by the year 2020, chemicals are produced and used in ways that minimize significant adverse impacts on the environment and human health. Developing countries and countries with economies in transition are eligible for support from the trust fund.
The Global Environment Facility (GEF)
An independent financial organization, the GEF provides grants to developing countries and countries with economies in transition for projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer and persistent organic pollutants (POPs). These projects benefit the global environment, linking local, national, and global environmental challenges and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
AusAID Pacific Public Sector Linkages Programme
The Pacific PSLP offers Australian federal, state and territory government departments, agencies and statutory authorities the opportunity to compete for grant funding that will:
- transfer capacity building skills and expertise to public sector counterpart institutions in Pacific countries, Papua New Guinea and Pacific regional organisations
- support strengthening of development-focussed public sector bilateral and regional linkages.
Grants are generally, but not necessarily, between $50,000 and $250,000 per annum. Activities must start in the current financial year and be completed within three years.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
The Japan International Cooperation Agency is advancing its activities around the pillars of a field-oriented approach, human security, and enhanced effectiveness, efficiency, and speed. The JICA approach to development assistance encourages all people to recognize the development issues they themselves face, participate in addressing them, and enjoy the fruits of such endeavours.
JICA Community Empowerment Program (CEP)
CEP is a part of JICA cooperation scheme that targets to directly support the people in the grass root level through collaboration with non government organizations (NGOs) based on the recipient government's endorsement. JICA Partnership Program (JPP)
JPP is a technical cooperation program implemented by JICA to contribute to the social and economic development of developing countries at the grass-roots level in collaboration with "Partners in Japan," such as NGOs, universities, local governments, and public corporations. Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)
GPP was established by the Japanese government to assist nonprofit organizations in developing countries in responding to various development needs in a prompt and complete manner on a comparatively small scale.
