The purpose of this circular is to inform you that SPREP is currently undertaking a comprehensive review of its core set of regional environmental indicators. In 2012 the SPREP members approved the development of a set of standardised indicators for use by member countries, a set of 34 indicators subsequently developed and were endorsed by members in 2018.
This set of indicators form the basis of national and regional State of the Environment (SoE) reporting and are designed to be quantitative, with clear definitions, objectives, methodologies, assumptions, and suggested data sources to enhance monitoring and reporting efforts. The updated indicators will assist member countries in tracking national development progress while meeting international reporting obligations.
