CCM2020
Climate Change Resilience

The Climate Change Matters (CCM) newsletter, which highlights in detail the achievements and work of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme’s (SPREP) Climate Change Resilience (CCR) programme, is back!

After a brief hiatus, the latest issue of the bi-monthly newsletter has been released and is available to all on the SPREP website. The latest bumper issue covers the work of the CCR programme for the months of April through to August this year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought about border closures around the Pacific and the world, much of the activities planned for 2020 have had to be either cancelled, postponed, or held virtually. The activities that were able to be held virtually are highlighted in the latest issue of the CCM, as well as other ongoing work that were able to go ahead at the national level.

Ms Tagaloa Cooper, Director of CCR, says, “Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the postponement of most of our planned activities and engagement on the ground, the availability of technology has proven not all is lost and we cannot come to an implementation standstill, but rather, look to more innovative ways of working so that we can continue as much as possible to meet the needs of our Members.”

The CCM newsletter is a Pacific Climate Change newsletter to be owned by all, and Ms Cooper encourages its Member countries and partners working in the space of climate change in the region to send in their stories to be included in the upcoming issues of the CCM.
