"This is our occasion to give back to our community. While our work is focused on our environment, at the heart of the environment is our people, our community," said Dr. Netatua Pelesikoti, the Officer in Charge of SPREP.

"It is they who are the caretakers of our environment which in turns serves them and we want to share our work with our community in Samoa."

Since announcing the Open Day several weeks ago, SPREP now has over 250 students booked to undertake the guided tours through the campus, spending time with the different Divisions of SPREP.

Biodiversity and Ecosystem Management, Climate Change, Waste Management and Pollution Control, Environmental Monitoring and Governance and, Corporate Services are the different divisions that will have special interactive stations as part of the tours.

Also on display will be live carving by students of the Leulumoega Fou School of Fine Arts.

"We were pleased with the response from schools and have coordinated tours around those that have contacted us to visit. We really look forward to seeing people at SPREP to share more about our work that we do here in Samoa and in the 20 different Pacific island countries across our island region," said Ms. Luana Chan-Jamieson of SPREP.

General members of the public are also welcome to visit the campus and be part of the tours.

The opening of the SPREP Open Day begins at 9.00am tomorrow followed by the guided school tours that will start at 9.30am, 10.15am, 11.00am, 11.45am and 12.30pm. Members of the general public are also invited to attend anytime between 9.30am-1.30pm. - #SPREPDay
