TRAINING AND LEARNING

Pacific Climate Change Centre (PCCC) is uniquely placed as the regional centre of training and research on climate change in the Pacific. As an information and training hub on climate change, it acts as knowledge broker by linking existing training that are available and creating/facilitating new training courses that are specific for the Pacific.

It works together with member countries by listening, designing, coordinating and teaching the various capacity building and training needs. Not only will it deliver face to face workshops in Samoa at its headquarters, but also around the region. Furthermore, it offcers both blended and online learning through its learning products for Members and public. 

  • Supporting capacity building within national meteorological services by delivery the training node of the WMO Pacific Regional Climate Centre.
  • Improving the coordination of climate change training efforts in the region by building effective partnerships and promoting events.
  • Delivering a programme of capacity building support directly to PICTs.

Webinars

Webinar series are  SPREP's and PCCC's online discussions with audiences held virtually. These public information forums bring together leaders, academics practitioners and the all sectors to talanoa and tok tok, sharing views on work on climate change in the Pacific.

Open Learning

Open Learning Courses are free short courses for the general public. These are open self-paced learning courses offered by partners (international organisations or universities), or specifically designed by SPREP for the Pacific

Children's Corner

The Children's Corner hosts open source learning courses are especially created for children and education- for all students student in primary, secondary and tertiary education.  These open courses will link teachers and students to learning toolkits that have been developed by SPREP and other CROP agencies around climate change education.

Executive Courses

Executive Courses are for selected and invited officials from the Pacific - registered with SPREP. These executive courses are regional training workshops and programs usually carried out through face to face, which have been transitioned to online courses. The executive courses provide virtual classrooms for officials to obtain and download materials, continuous networking and certifications.
