The Independent Corporate Review of SPREP, as well as the mid-term review of the SPREP Strategic Plan, continues in Nadi, Fiji this week with a regional meeting of SPREP members and partners.

The review will assess the Secretariat's performance over the last five years and review progress in implementing the Strategic Plan. It will also assess the relevance of the priorities and targets in the current plan. This will help guide the ongoing implementation of the plan to 2015 and inform the formulation of SPREP's next Strategic Plan.

The aim of this one week gathering with SPREP members and partners is to obtain feedback to help the review team in their work.

"We've had a busy past few years at SPREP and the mid-term review will help us assess whether we are on the right track and whether we need to make any changes to our Strategic Plan. The review is also an excellent opportunity for a thorough, independent assessment of SPREP and its work in support of Pacific Island Member countries", said Mr. David Sheppard, the Director General of SPREP.

The review is being conducted by a four person team led by Professor John Hay. The other review team members are Ms. Teresa Manarangi-Trott from the Cook Islands, Ms. Sivia Qoro from Fiji and Mr. Willy Kostka from the Federated States of Micronesia.

The three day workshop is being held at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi. 22 of the 26 SPREP members are present with SPREP partners German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS), World Wildlife Fund Pacific, International Union for the Conservation of Nature Oceania (IUCN), Asian Development Bank and the European Union
